HELENA – Preparations are underway for the annual Last Chance Stampede and Fair, which kicks off later this week.

Maintenance crews were preparing the arena at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds for this year’s rodeo.

Kevin Tenney, the fairgrounds manager, said this weekend’s rodeo will be one of the best.

“Preparations start probably at the end of August, and it’s a year-long thing. We have a steering committee that meets once a month every Wednesday, we just start knocking things off things to do. It’s a group effort, without our communities, we wouldn’t be able to do this,” he said.

This year’s festivities include performances by country artists LOCASH and Clint Black.

The fair kicks off Wednesday, July 24 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the rodeo are $20 for Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. The fair is open until Sunday, July 28.
