MISSOULA – One person was taken to the hospital after an early morning trailer explosion Tuesday in Missoula.
Missoula Rural Fire District Assistant Chief Brent Christopherson said crews were called to the Wagon Wheel Trailer Park on Big Flat Road for reports of an explosion shortly after 12:15 a.m.
Fire crews quickly knocked down the flames from the explosion, which scattered debris over a wide area. Christopherson said flames were shooting 35 feet in the air and all four walls of the trailer were blown out.
One male, believed to be residing in the trailer, was taken to a St. Patrick Hospital with injuries. One neighbor, whose trailer was also damaged, was taken to her daughter’s home to spend the rest of the night.
The trailer is considered to be a total loss and the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office is looking into what caused the blast.
