As the weather warms up, First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park is switching to summer hours.
Starting April 15, the park will be open every day including holidays from now until mid-September.
The visitor’s center and the gates to the upper entry will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Staff at the jump said they are excited to be back to full-time operation.
Summer also means more events to celebrate the park’s historical and cultural significance.
“This area has always been considered a sacred site,” said Clark Carlson-Thompson First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park Manager. “There’s 13 tribes that have a connection to this park from all over Montana as well as tribes into the Idaho and Washington areas so it’s always been kind of known as a gathering place.”
Summer events include:
Ranger Jump Talks: May 26 – September 1 every Sunday at 1 p.m.
National Trails Day Hike: June 1
7th Annual Buffalo Kite Festival: July 6 and 7 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Junior Ranger Programs: June 13 – August 15 every Thursday 10 -12 p.m.
10th annual Mammoth Hunt: August 10 and 11 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Little Sell Powwow: August 24
