Heavy rain washes away Lake County road

Posted

POLSON – A busy road in Lake County was no match for Mother Nature Wednesday after heavy rain washed out a big section of Dublin Gulch Road.

Lake County commissioners issued a disaster declaration Wednesday due to the potential of high water on county roads after Tuesday’s heavy rain.

The video shows the worst of it: Dublin Gulch Road between Curlew and Biggerstaff where Lake County Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Clary said the water took out a large section of roadway making it impassable. That road is located off Highway 93 between Ronan and Saint Ignatius.

The road was already closed after water started flowing over it Tuesday. He said the county was prepared for something like this to happen in the spring weather.

Clary added other roads are in pretty good shape, but he urged drivers to go slowly and keep an eye out for water on the roads and not to drive through running water.

There is no word yet on how long that road will be closed for repairs.
