In Loma, shoppers flocked to the 48th annual Flea Market on Saturday at the Loma Memorial Hall.

Thirty-one area vendors sold everything from antiques and crafts to art and jewelry.

Organizers said this year’s flea market was one of the busiest with shoppers from around the state and country driving up for the day.

Vendors including Don Sorensen also noticed an uptick in shoppers this year.

Sorensen owns an antique bed and breakfast business along the Missouri River and has been at the flea market for 45 years.

“This year was probably one of our best years ever,” he said.

Sorensen added the Loma Flea Market is a great way to meet new customers and kick off his business season, which starts to pick up around springtime.

“A lot of them are repeat customers, but we occasionally have new people that never been here before, nor do they know where Virgelle is, so we’re only 20 miles away from here so if they can get here, they can get another 20 miles to our place,” he said.

Sorensen’s business is located near the Coal Banks Landing Recreation Site.
