BILLINGS – The Billings City/County 911 Call Center has failed to receive numerous emergency calls so authorities are authorizing a backup number.
If your 911 call does not go through, immediately call 406-657-8200 to report your emergency, Billings Fire Chief Bill Rash said in a news release. This number will direct you to the Billings Police Department.
Direct all questions about 911 service to the Billings Fire Department at 657-8423.
Verizon Wireless, which administers the emergency call service, is working on a solution.
The Bozeman area is having a similar problems, according to Gallatin County spokesman Whitney Bermes.
The @Gallatin_County 911 Center is having issues receiving calls from @verizon phones. SUPER important to note that calls ARE going to the center BUT they are getting re-routed to non-emergency lines.
