BUTTE – While driving through town Sunday, a Butte couple thought they saw a cat – a really big cat.
“So this cat crossed the street and my fiance was saying how big of a cat it was and then all of the sudden he said, ‘That can’t be a cat,’” said Courtney Edwards.
It turned out to be a bobcat. With the heavy snowfall, it’s not unusual for wild animals to leave the wilderness and wander into town looking for food.
“So we followed it around for a couple minutes and we went into the parking lot by WET and it came right to us. My fiance even got out of the truck and got pretty close to it,” said Edwards.
Maybe all the wandering made the cat pretty thirsty because it then wandered over to the Butte Brewing Co.
“And the top part of the brewery had one of the doors propped open and the cat walked into those set of doors and the second set were closed and so it walked right back out and headed towards the MAC Center,” said Edwards.
If you come into contact with wildlife like a large cat, officials said to call law enforcement immediately and leave it alone.
