(DUTTON) It’s a bad time for a snow plow to break down.
It’s even worse if the whole town is relying on it.
“We started out not knowing if we were going to have a winter, and all of a sudden it just dumped on us,” Dutton Public Works Director Jeremiah Kjensmo said.
But luckily, those in the Dutton community are stepping up to help.
“The community of Dutton is probably one of the most giving and helpful communities I have ever seen. We all pull together and help each other when there is a need,” Dutton resident Steve Wahl said.
Mountain View Co-Op and Campbell Aviation helped plow the town. It’s unknown when the town’s truck will be back up and running.
“It’s [snow plow] old. It seems like an arm and a leg every time you fire it up,” Kjensmo said.
Kjensmo said he’s lucky to live in a small town where everyone is willing to lend a helping hand.
“Everybody just helps everybody around here. It’s awesome, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else,” Kjensmo said.
“I think it’s just a fact of life. We live in the north and we’re going to get snow and that’s just the way it’ll be. I just feel like it’s important to help out my neighbors,” Wahl said.
And although everyone is looking ahead to spring, they are prepared to finish out winter.
“If it happens, it happens and we’ll deal with it. We’re pretty resilient. We don’t have a lot of big resources or anything so we make do with what we got and we make it work,” Kjensmo said.
