WHITEFISH – Extreme winter weather has prompted officials to close the summit at Whitefish Mountain Resort.
Chair 1 has been closed for the day on Tuesday. Chairs 5, 7, 8, and 11 and the Summit House will also be closed on Tuesday. Uphill traffic is closed when the summit is closed.
Resort officials also note on their website that day tickets will be available at a discounted price and Chair 4 is currently being evaluated for a possible opening.
Wind chill readings as low as -44° prompted the resort to close the summit early on Tuesday.
Chair 2 – Swift Creek Express, Chair 3 – Tenderfoot, Chair 6 – Base Lodge, Chair 9 – Easy Rider, Chair 12 – Elk Highlands, Big Easy Carpet and the Terrain Parks are open as usual.
