Philipsburg hosts Seventh Annual Brewfest, raises money for winter ice sports

Posted

PHILIPSBURG— Old Fire Hall in Philipsburg was home to the Seventh Annual Ice Association Brewfest.

There was live music and stations from which to sample beer from 19 different breweries around the state.

All of the proceeds from the event went toward the Philipsburg Ice Association, which organizes events to encourage youth participation in winter ice sports.

Secretary of the Philipsburg Ice Association Heidi Beck Heser says this event goes far beyond just benefiting the Ice Association.

“[People] get to go and enjoy that beer in addition to that trip, and that’s a big bonus for Montana,” Heser said. “And second, if they get enough requests for that beer wherever they live […] that beer is able to be brought in by a distributor.”

Heser said this year they were impressed by the number of breweries participating and they cannot wait to continue to watch that number grow.
