The bitter cold over the past week has impacted several utilities.
In Havre, a water main break and several water lines freezing have been reported.
Public Works said the water main break will be fixed Friday and they suggest letting a faucet drip throughout the cold weather to keep water pipes from freezing.
In Scobey, Farmers Union Carriers posted a reminder to Facebook stating propane will stop vaporizing at temperatures lower than 44 degrees below zero meaning your furnace might not work.
They said to not put any insulation or blankets on your tank as it will only hold the cold in and make things worse.
With more snow on the way and below zero temperatures to continue, NorthWestern Energy said although they respond to all outages immediately, the safety of their workers is always the top priority.
“This is what we’re here to do. This is our job and we always have that immediate response. I think where it becomes challenging is when it’s so cold, we want to make sure that we’re not putting our crews in danger,” NorthWestern Energy spokesperson Brandy Powers said.
