(UPDATE, 5:50 p.m.) MTN News has confirmed with the Northern Cheyenne Tribe’s Vice President Conrad Fisher that the body of 14-year-old Henny Scott was found near Lame Deer on Friday.
Fisher said Scott’s body was found behind a house in the Muddy Creek area west of Lame Deer.
Scott was a freshman at Lame Deer High School and would have turned 15 in January.
She had been missing for several weeks.
Community members gathered to grieve and support Scott’s family Saturday at the Muddy Hall Community Building.
(1st Report, 2:50 p.m.) A body was found Friday on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation near Lame Deer.
FBI spokeswoman Sandra Barker said Saturday that the body has not been identified and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
On Thursday, authorities released a missing person advisory for Henny Scott, a 14-year-old Busby girl believed to be injured and headed towards Hardin. The advisory was later canceled without finding Scott.
A search party organized by the tribe went looking for Scott on Friday.
Neither the FBI, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, nor the Montana Highway Patrol, which is investigating, have confirmed whether the discovery of the body is related to Scott’s disappearance.
