The name of the man has not yet been released.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, troopers were dispatched at about 8 p.m. after Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies engaged in a chase of a man driving a pickup truck that was reported stolen.

The driver of the truck was northbound on Elloam Road east of Chinook when he apparently lost control and skidded off the road, causing the pickup to roll several times.

The man was thrown from the truck by the force of the crash. He was taken to Northern Medical Center, and then airlifted to Benefis Health System in Great Falls where he died.

He was the only person in the truck.

According to the MHP, the man was not wearing a seatbelt, and speed was a factor in the crash.
