Bull moose collision causes three-vehicle crash near Townsend

A vehicle collision with a bull moose near Townsend caused a three-vehicle crash Saturday evening.

According to the Broadwater County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report that a Nissan pickup had hit a bull moose around 6:14 p.m. on Highway 12 near mile marker 74.

After the first deputy arrived on scene, another vehicle traveling south slowed down and the car behind it rear-ended it.

There were no reports of serious injuries.

The southbound lane of Highway 12  was shut down temporarily, however, traffic is now open.

Emergency crews cleared the scene around 8 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office said this is the second recent incident involving a moose and drivers are advised to be cautious in that area.
