Police in Havre are beefing up their presence at Havre High School due to a possible threat.

According to the Havre Public Schools website, a “cryptic message” was found written on the wall of a bathroom on Wednesday afternoon.

The website states: “The message was not specific in nature, however, law enforcement has been notified and is assisting with the investigation. An increased police presence will be in place starting Thursday morning, November 8, 2018. This is a precautionary measure. We will share specific information as we are able.”

We will update you if we get more information.

(UPDATE) The Havre Daily News reports that Superintendent Andy Carlson says that the district is no longer using the word “threat” to refer to an incident that took place Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Havre High School.

“We’re treating it more like vandalism at this point,” Carlson said.

A similar incident in March 2018 caused a brief evacuation of Havre Middle School.
