Earlier this month, First Interstate Bank and KRTV presented Belt teacher Kathie Metrione with a check for $250.

After receiving her grant, MTN followed up with Metrione to see how the money was helping her students learn this year.

Metrione says she was able to purchase three online programs that cover a number of subjects for her students with the help of One Class at a Time.

“Generation Genius and Mystery Science to supplement my science curriculum, and then we purchased Moby Max so I could individualize a little bit more,” said Metrione.

Students say they appreciate the one-one-one approach and enjoy learning at their own pace both in the classroom and at home.

“Once like at the beginning of like math or reading, you do this test and gets like the right level so then it’s easier to understand,” said 5th grade student Slater Lordes.

Metrione says students also learn through interactive games they play and create through the programs, which many students say is their favorite part.

This week’s One Class At A Time recipient is second-grade Meadowlark Elementary School teacher Ashlee Lacasse.

First Interstate Bank and KRTV recently presented Lacasse with a check for $250 that she says will fill a number of needs in her classroom.

Lacasse plans to buy more flexible seating options, lap desks, and yoga mats.

She says the flexible seating keeps students engaged while in class, the lap desks allow for more movement and independence and the yoga mats will help with education programs like ‘yoga math’ and during stretching breaks.

Stay with us as we return to the classroom to give you a first-hand look at how the new supplies are helping Lacasse’s students succeed.
