The Montana Historical Society in Helena is celebrating its first ever Home Movie Day this weekend. It’s an event started by the Center for Home Movies 16 years ago.

Film Archivist Kelly Burton said home movies or amateur movies come in many formats and cover any number of events, places, or topics.

You can bring yours to the Historical Society this weekend.

“We’ll take a look at them and if they’re able to be projected, we have 8mm, Super 8 mm, 16mm projectors, we have VHS and DVD that can be projected as well,” said Burton.  “And then at the end I’ll just answer questions and if anybody has any questions about preservation or about the film archives here, I’ll answer questions.”

Home Movie Day is this Saturday, October 20th, from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Montana Historical Society located at 225 Roberts Street.

It’s celebrated as part of American Archives Month.

You can visit the Montana Historical Society website for more information.
