KALISPELL — Two people have been charged after a disagreement over the wearing of a face mask at a Whitefish grocery store.

Whitefish Assistant Chief of Police Bridger Kelch says an investigation is under review by the Whitefish City Attorney over the incident that happened at the Super 1 Foods store on Saturday, July 18th.

Kelch says a woman named Judith Stevenson was not wearing a face mask while shopping inside the grocery store, which created an issue between her and Steve Ferry, another customer.

This led to a disagreement and that's when Ferry began recording the interaction.

Kelch told MTN News that the situation escalated when Ferry intervened in the Super 1 Foods' parking lot.

According to Kelch, Ferry alleged that Stevenson coughed on his wife, and Ferry then took an object and broke the back window of Stevenson’s vehicle.

Kelch says that Ferry has been charged with criminal mischief while Stevenson has been charged with disorderly conduct.
