UPDATE, 5:50 PM: As of Friday evening, the fire was reported to be burning in timber approximately 2.5 miles up the Bridger Foothills Trail.
The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office confirmed that all hikers in the southern Bridgers are safe and accounted for.
The fire is estimated to be 80 acres in size. Resources include 2 large airtankers, 4 single engine air tankers, along with firefighters and smokejumpers. There are also two helicopters dropping buckets of water on the fire to help slow its spread.
UPDATE:, 4:37 PM: Traffic is blocked at Story Mill and Bridger Canyon Road, and at Kelly Canyon and Bridger Canyon Road. Please go around the mouth of Bridger Canyon. It will be closed for some time while the fire near the M is brought under control.
UPDATE, 4:26 PM: Multiple agencies are responding to a fire between the M and Sypes Canyon, with smoke visible around the Gallatin Valley.
Effective immediately, the M trailhead and Sypes Canyon trailhead are closed.
The public is asked not travel Hwy 86 between the M and Jackson Creek Road, allowing responding resources to do their job.

A wildfire has been reported in the Bridger Mountains, with helicopters reportedly dropping buckets of water on the blaze Friday afternoon.
The fire appears to be on the western side, between the M trail system and Sypes Canyon. Fire officials are urging people to avoid the area and the road to Bridger Canyon is reportedly closed at this time.
