GREAT FALLS — A new business in Great Falls called Carved Axe Throwing is having their grand opening Saturday.

“This just gave me the perfect opportunity to do something that gives to Great Falls,” said Josh Tearnan, the owner of Carved Axe Throwing an indoor axe throwing range.

He says he just wanted to do something different, "I do engineering during the day time and I just have been doing it for the past 15 years and I wanted to get out from behind the desk."

Tearnan thought of a way to get people out of the cold and into something new.

“The winters here are long and cold I needed to give everybody something else to do,” he said.

Don't let the fun fool you, as participants say it is a workout too.

“The few folks that have come in so far walked out of here just burnt,” added Tearnan

First time thrower Karsten Williams says she came up with her own technique.

“I think the first part of it I wanted to kind throw it soft, just in the beginning but then I realized its kind of a place to get anger out," said Williams.

Owners hope this will be a great stress reliever for customers. But warn people not to overwork themselves as an hour is a long time to throw.

“People are underestimating, and they think, an hour isn’t a very long. But when you’re throwing axes for an hour. Also, these axes are heavy and big. So, after an hour you’re don’t you’re heavy and spent”.

Participants must be at least 16 years old to enter the facility.

You can bring your own food and drinks which includes alcohol-proof of legal drinking age is required.

Cost for a session $15 if you book online and $20 as a walk in.

Carved Axe Throwing Company is located at 1900 4th Street NE in Great Falls.
