(HELENA) Toys For Tots and Walmart are taking advantage of Black Friday deals to provide toys for kids this holiday season.

On Friday, Boy Scouts with Troop 212 from East Helena helped load up 95 bicycles and 300 sports balls paid for by donations from the community to Toys For Tots.

The total purchase came to about $2,600, and with the help of Stacy Sommer at the Helena Walmart, Toys For Tots saved roughly $1,200 dollars on the bikes.

Last year, the program gave away around 12,000 toys..

Helena Toys For Tots coordinator Howard Mears said the economy is doing better this year, and not as many families will likely need assistance. But for families that do, it makes a big difference.

“When the parents come down on the shopping floor and they look around at the abundance and the generosity of Helena, it’s not unusual for them to break into tears,” Mears said.

After loading up the bikes, the Boy Scouts continued doing good deeds. The Scouts then delivered more than 100 containers of coffee they had collected for veterans.
