A Helena woman has been chosen as one of just 100 Macy’s employees nationwide to sing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade next week.
Martha Sprague has been working at Macy’s for nine years.
This year, she decided to audition for the singing Christmas tree float of Macy’s employees.
She submitted her audition and several weeks later was surprised by her co-workers with the announcement that she’d been chosen.
Martha says watching the parade is a tradition for her family and she’s thrilled to be a part of it.
“It’s a great kickoff to the holiday season. In my way of thinking, it celebrates Thanksgiving, but by the end of it, there’s Christmas, too. And then it’s like – let the holidays begin,” says Martha. “I’m really thankful for this opportunity. It just seems so magical, I’m just so excited to be part of it.”
Martha departs for New York City soon and will spend several days rehearsing with her fellow employees from across the country before the big day.
She says she’s excited to see the balloons, but also hopes to catch a glimpse of Santa.
The parade will Thanksgiving morning (Thursday, November 22) on MTN station KTGF starting at 9 a.m. and it will replay at 2 p.m.
