GREAT FALLS — The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office and Great Falls Police Department announced on Wednesday the creation of a Violent Crime Prevention Task Force.
This team will include seven members representing both agencies. The goal is to create better information sharing to help prevent and address violent crime in Cascade County.
“Both Sheriff Slaughter and I recognize the importance of starting this task force especially in light of the violence that has taken place in our community. The violence didn’t start occurring overnight, it’s been kind of building over the last five years of course highlight the triple homicide at the close of 2019," said GFPD chief David Bowen.
The task force is expected to operations by April 1st.
The two agencies will host a public forum on Thursday, March 5th, to address the issue of crime in Great Falls. The forum is free and open to all, and will be from 6:30 pm to 8 pm in the Mansfield Theater inside the Civic Center.
The town hall will include a joint presentation by Great Falls Police Chief Dave Bowen and Cascade County Sheriff Jesse Slaughter. They will share information on crime and public safety issues in Great Falls and Cascade County.
Following the presentation, representatives from social and legal agencies, who address many of the underlying issues that lead to criminal activity, will be introduced. After the introductions, written questions will be solicited from attendees. Chief Bowen and Sheriff Slaughter will then answer the written questions.
