GREAT FALLS — A regional group helping people with disabilities is asking for help from people in Great Falls.
As of Wednesday, applications are being accepted for the Rocky Mountain ADA Center’s Regional Advisory Committee program.
Up to two people will be selected from each of the six states that the center covers.
Great Falls committee members will help the center distribute information and help meet the needs of people with disabilities across the state.
"This is something kind of new that we've implemented now. The Rocky Mountain ADA Center has been in operation for about 29 years now. So we're certainly not new by any means, but we wanted to really step up our game and make sure that we're providing the services that people actually need,” Rocky Mountain ADA Center Director Emily Shuman said.
The deadline to apply is October 23. The committee term starts November 1 and lasts two years.

ADVISORS COMMIT TO:
- Assist in planning regional training and conferences
- Identifying priority locations within your state
- Identifying speakers (as appropriate)
- Serve as a speaker (as appropriate)
- Publicizing upcoming events via your channels
- Inviting participants within your network
- Assist in selecting a scholarship recipient to attend ADA National Symposium
- Identifying interested candidates
- Evaluating applications
- Participating in selection process
- Write 1 blog post per year
- Month will be assigned
- Topic to focus on ADA implementation within your state
- Participate in and share social media
- Participate in monthly Advisory calls
- 10 calls per year
- 80% participation required
- Calls will cover
- Updates from each state
- ADA Center updates
- Current events related to the ADA
- Recommendations and information from advisors to assist in developing outreach initiatives, research projects and dissemination materials
- Participation in Region 8 research projects
- Link to RMADAC website on their site
- Provide a letter of support from their employer
