GREAT FALLS — A little soup for the soul can hit the spot during trying times, and Porkie D's Soup To Go is finding a way to send love to senior citizens stuck inside during COVID-19 (coronavirus) restrictions.

Porkie D's Soup To Go posted on their Facebook page earlier this month asking family members of someone 60 years old or older to sign them up for a free meal. The mother-daughter duo has been delivering soup and fixings to elderly residents each day of the week since the post. They are booked through the end of April, but will have more soup for seniors come May.

“We been getting feedback on Facebook,” said manager Britney Galbavy. “People who have nominated them have contacted my mom and told her how much the old people really enjoy it so it’s really cool."

They say older residents make up a large portion of Porkie D's customer base, so the soup raffle was one way to show appreciation while keeping everyone healthy.

“We wanted to give back to the community and we really wanted to keep the old people inside and safe and just serve them,” said Galbavy.

They say despite what’s happening with businesses and COVID-19, they’re still staying busy and are feeling the local support. Galbavy says they are dropping food off on doorsteps to avoid any direct contact with residents.

Porkie D’s Soup To Go's drive thru is open and there is a delivery option through Door Dash. Their hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and they are located 1300 9th Street South. Click here to visit their Facebook page.
