GREAT FALLS — The University of Providence-Great Falls opened an all-new University Center on Monday, complete with an art gallery.
Located across from Argo Central sits Galerie Trinitas, a collection of works from and in tribute to Sister Mary Trinitas Morin.
For nearly 33 years, Morin was the leading art professor at UP, inspiring others with her love of art.
Although she created enough original pieces to create a collection, Trinitas never sold a single piece. She simply created for the love of art.
The gallery tells the story of her life through art pieces.
Various works are on display including paintings, stained glass, and metal work, as well as tribute pieces from her friends.
Before the gallery was designed, Trinitas’ work could be found in the old convent where the sisters of providence used to live.
Gallery Curator Dena Rigby shared how she thinks the new space will serve Sister Trinitas’ work.
“This space really pays homage to the quality of her work, and her as a person and a woman of faith, and an artist who spent her life creating work that glorified her faith. And I think this space really allows the story to be told of her life,” Rigby said.
“I hope people will really feel a sense of who she was,” Rigby said.
