GREAT FALLS — After a few weeks of being "quietly" open, the Fox Farm Diner in Great Falls is preparing for its formal grand opening on Friday, January 3rd.

The owners are Pamela and Arlo Christianson, and they opened the restaurant to fulfill a dream: “Someday we are going to open up our own place, the 'someday' thing."

Arlo said that he and his wife took a chance on the building that formerly was the Chinatown Restaurant at 709 Alder Drive, just off of Fox Farm Road: “Listed for lease and she goes, 'I’m going to take out my retirement money and you're going to start your someday restaurant.'"

The diner offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner - but if you don’t want to stay, you can order from the counter and grab and go.

They want the food to be close to home: "Just old fashioned food, kind of Grandma and Grandpapa would make you or mom and dad Sunday night."

They plan to be generous with their portions: “Some people will eat and will come in and get their order to go and go home and they will eat it for two nights because it’s so much food!”

The Christiansons says they only have one goal for their customers: "Just relax and enjoy themselves.”

Hours of operation are Sunday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
