GREAT FALLS — “I’m going to be okay because I’m young and strong and I’m healthy." These are the words of Amanda Tamosaitis, who found out in October that she had Stage 2 Small Cell Lung Cancer.
Her job can’t offer healthcare insurance, and she’s already in $40,000 of debt.
For some people, having health insurance isn’t really something you think about when you're young: “I didn’t care too much about it until all of this happened."
Her family and friends organized an auction that was held on Saturday at the Halftime Sports Bar to help Amanda with her medical bills.
“All of the proceeds will be going to help Amanda with her bills for radiation and chemo and her hospital stays, we have over 90 silent auction items and over 20 live auction items. Everybody in this community has come together to help Amanda," explained Robyn Roberts, manager of the Halftime Sports Bar and Amanda’s friend.
She was also surprised by the response of the community: “I knew Great Falls was a good community, but I just didn’t realize how many people really did love and care."
