From historic murals to painted parking meters, downtown Great Falls is alive with art.

This summer, the Urban Art Project is working to add more.

Eleven local artists have taken over the parking garage on 1st Avenue South and are transforming its barren windows into artistic pieces with purpose.

Local artist Meghan Magnuson used her window to spread a message she’s passionate about.

“Being an artist, a lot of my work is kind of my voice. So, it’s kind of my way of using my voice,” Magnuson said.

Magnuson’s window display, “Can’t have your Earth and eat it too” represents her dedication to recycling and desire to inform her community about the need to do so.

There are handouts explaining each piece directly outside of the garage or on the Urban Art Project’s webpage.

This summer’s Urban Art Project installment, one of three lined up for the year, will be on display in the windows of the parking garage along 315 1st Avenue South from now until September 5th.
