Not only did the Montana Federal Credit Union hold its 79th annual meeting and member appreciation day Thursday, but it also announced a name change and new logo.

Thursday’s event was meant to bring people together to talk about past years’ successes and highlight new advances in the coming year. New board members were also elected at the meeting.

Aside from the discussion, MFCU announced its new name, Montana Credit Union (MCU), and unveiled its new logo.

Despite ‘federal’ being dropped from the name, the credit union is still federally chartered.

Marketing Vice President Becky Timmons said they are modernizing without alienating who they are.

Personal Teller Machines (PTMs) will also bring change to the credit union. The PTMs will be installed at the Smelter Avenue and 14th Street locations within the coming weeks.

The PTMs will be similar to Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), but with face-to-face communication.

“It’s still our same old tellers,” Becky Timmons said. “You’ll just drive up and tap to log in and talk to the same tellers you’ve worked with in our branch, but they’ll be housed out of one location and that really offers us a lot more flexibility in hours, staffing, so we can kind of offer longer service hours in more locations on Saturdays too.”

Customers can deposit, withdraw, transfer, and make loan payments among other options at the PTMs.

The Montana Credit Union will also have a new website and mobile app within the coming weeks.

The construction at the credit union’s 14th Street location should wrap up by the end of July.
