Three Great Falls elementary school students are jumping to new heights.

Valley View sixth-graders and Great Falls Double Dream Team members Ashlyn Jarrett, Janica Clark and Brie Srb recently placed in a regional jump roping competition in Missoula.

The trio is now headed to Nationals in Orlando, Florida at the end of June.

The group says they didn’t expect to place at regionals and are excited to make the trip and represent their city.

“Some things we didn’t hit all the requirements on because we didn’t really know them, but we jumped really smooth so I think they [judges] liked that,” said Clark.

“I really hope we can represent Great Falls there and like make people know there’s a team in Great Falls who can actually do this,” said Srb.

Between jumping, gymnastics and schoolwork, the trio has stayed busy fundraising for Orlando.

The girls say they loved the positivity at regionals and can’t wait to see what the next level of competitions holds.

“They’re very caring at the jump rope competitions unlike most competitions we go to, they’re not, they don’t care about the other person they hope you lose, so it’s like a lot different and everyone there’s like ‘whoo!’ so it’s really different, but it’s awesome,” said Jarrett.

Carey Hamrick says he coached the team for the past several years; he hopes to expand the program in the future.
