It’s out with the old and in with the new in Great Falls as change is underway along Central Avenue.
Tracy’s
MTN News recently confirmed that Tracy’s, an Electric City staple that mysteriously closed last year, is reopening under new ownership.
John Barnes, the new owner, said the restaurant was a historic part of downtown Great Falls and a part of many family traditions.
“We just want to keep downtown improving,” he said. “My partners and I saw an opportunity to go into business together do our part to reopen the restaurant, which has been a part of the Great Falls community for decades.”
As far as improvements, they are working on renovations on the inside and improving the look of the establishment, which is located at 127 Central Avenue. Signs have been removed from the outside to be redone.
Barnes said they will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They hope to be open mid-to-late June.
Great Falls Farmers’ Market
One of Great Falls’ biggest family-friendly events is ushering in a new era as it expands down Central Avenue and launches its new look.
The Great Falls Farmers’ Market kicks off its first market on June 1 and will take over the first block of Central Avenue from the Civic Center (Park Drive North) to 2nd Street South.
The additional space will accommodate extra vendor requests in June and July.
Vendors will still be in the parks south of the Civic Center and Park Manor.
In addition to the expansion down Central Avenue, the Farmer’s Market launched a rebrand for the first time since starting in 1982. The new look includes a new logo and website, that now accepts digital applications and has an updated list of events and activities.
The Last Straw
A new restaurant that serves sandwiches, smoothies, and ice cream is now open in downtown.
The Last Straw Bistro, which is in the former Chopz building at 426 Central Avenue, is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
You can visit the new restaurant’s Facebook page for more information.
Elevation 3330
A bar on the second floor of the building at 410 Central Avenue is already nearing its one-month anniversary.
Elevation 3330 offers beer, cocktails and appetizers and is a part of the pedlet program.
General manager Joe Anderegg told MTN News in April that he and his two partners dreamed about opening a bar for a long time.
“The three of us have known each other for 21 years. I think there’s a lot of groups of guys that are close friends and dream about owning a bar one day. It just has always been in the back of our minds and here we are,” Anderegg said.
Elevation 3330, which is the elevation of Great Falls, is open Tuesdays-Thursdays 3:30-10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 3:30-11 p.m.
