GREAT FALLS – You’ve probably heard of coffee with a cop, but how about grabbing a cup of Joe with DO?

Cascade County detention officers are looking to get a little face time with the public.

Starting in May, “Cup of Joe with a DO” aims to give people a chance to meet detention staff and learn about what they do.

The president of the Cascade County Adult Detention Officers Union said they are looking to interact with the community outside the confines of the detention center.

“This will get us out from behind, you know, the concrete walls, if you will, and give us a chance to interact with people,” said Sgt. Zach Semenza.

The event will be held at and on the following dates and times:

  • May 18, Morning Light Coffee at 10:00 a.m.
  • June 15, Schulte’s Coffee House at 11:00 a.m.
  • June 15, Schulte’s Coffee House at 11:00 a.m.

A portion of proceeds will go to the union’s Community Involvement Fund, which allows them to donate to charities or helping detention staff in need.
