Organizers reflect on success and ideas of NoMore Violence Week

Posted

This year’s NoMore Violence Week saw more participation than ever before.

NoMore Violence Week Chair Jamie Marshall said the outpouring of support from the community was phenomenal.

“The energy moving forward has been fantastic to see,” Marshall said.

There were presentations about secondary traumatic stress, digital safety, and community trauma during the week-long event.

Marshall said the community recognized that Cascade County can do better when it comes to combating violence.

“This impacts all of us, child abuse and neglect, when you look at trafficking and you also look at our substance abuse rates. Those impact all of us. These people are our neighbors. They are the folks that we engage with and it impacts our community as a whole,” Marshall said.

Marshall added they are expanding on the ideas generated throughout the week.

They are also interested in feedback from the professionals who attended the events on what training they would like to see.

“We looked for ways to engage families a little bit more. The opening and closing events were phenomenal in the experiences that families had with their children,” Marshall said.

The rocks decorated during the final event of NoMore Violence Week will be distributed on May 11th.
