Susan McIntyre has been appointed the new director of the Great Falls Public Library.

McIntyre replaces Kathy Mora who retired in December.

During the search for a new director, McIntyre served as the Interim Library Director. Before assuming that role, she served for 10 years as the Great Falls Public Library’s Head of Information Services and then for 3 years as Collection Development Librarian, according to a press release.

As Head of Information Services, McIntyre supervised all reference services and interlibrary loan. As the Collection Development Librarian, McIntyre was responsible for all aspects of adult collection management and library acquisition functions and supervised technical services staff.

The press release states her prior experience includes serving as the Health Educator/Resource Librarian for Seattle & King County Public Health Department for 9 years.

McIntyre stated, “I’m a Great Falls girl—born and raised.  The Great Falls Public Library was built the year I was born; I grew up coming to this Library and spending my nights voraciously reading. I am so honored to follow in the footsteps of Alma Smith Jacobs and the great leaders that have made the Library such an important part of our community. I look forward to building on that legacy and serving the people of Great Falls.”

McIntyre will assume her new position on March 12.
