GREAT FALLS — The History Museum and the Cascade County Historical Society in Great Falls are getting ready for new leadership.

After nine years as executive director, Jim Meinert is retiring. Wednesday afternoon, the museum had a small reception in honor of the work he has done.

He said he is most proud of the five documentary films produced by the museum.

Meinert also said he feels busier than ever, but as they transition into new leadership, he will take some time to slow down.

“I do feel ‘executive director’s withdrawal’ right about now,” Meinert joked. “So I think I’ll go on a three-step program to correct that.”

“The first step in the program is to thank your friends,” Meinert added. “Soto  all the people in Great Falls that have spent some time here over the last few years, that have helped us financially and have come and visited this museum, I just want to say thank you.”

The new executive director, Kristi Scott, currently serves at the curator of art at Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art.
