The Great Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Great Falls Tourism, and Great Falls International Airport Authority announced Tuesday that United Airlines has agreed to extend direct summer Chicago flights until September 2, 2019.

The extension adds almost a month to the flight schedule, which will result in a 20 percent increase in 2019 capacity between Great Falls and Chicago, according to a press release from Great Falls Airport Authority.

Direct Chicago flights are in their fourth year of operation. United Airlines expanded Chicago flights to daily during the summer resulting in 186 percent growth in passengers boarding flights from GTF and Chicago, according to the press release.

The Great Falls Airport Authority stated that as a result, United experienced record boardings at GTF for both the summer and the year; finishing 2018 with over 17 percent growth in total boardings.
