Crews responding to fire at Great Falls Public Works Department

(UPDATE, 2:20 p.m.) Officials told MTN News Tuesday afternoon that the fire is coming under control.

It appears to have started from a road grader parked in a garage at the Great Falls Public Works Department.

Fire crews had some problems with equipment and trouble accessing the fire.

Firefighters from Billings, Helena, and Missoula were on scene. They are in Great Falls as local firefighters attend Jason Baker’s memorial service.


(1st Report, 1:22 p.m.) Fire crews in Great Falls are responding to a fire near the Old Havre Highway.

The fire is in a structure at the Great Falls Public Works Department located on 25th Avenue Northeast.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire.

We have a reporter on scene and will update you when we get more information.

The fire is located on the hill behind the refinery.
