The Great Falls Public Schools’ Board of Trustees will interview Thomas Moore again for the Great Falls Public Schools’ superintendent position during a public meeting Thursday evening.
The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office building located at 1100 4th Street South.
The meeting will be the second chance for trustees and the public to hear from Moore, GFPS’s current assistant superintendent for grades 7-12, after the board could not come to a final decision last week.
After a meeting last Wednesday, the Board of Trustees narrowed down the finalists to two candidates: Moore and Gregory Nyen, a superintendent for a school district in Wisconsin.
The board then decided they would interview each candidate for a second time.
This past Monday, however, Nyen withdrew from superintendent consideration leaving only Moore as a candidate.
After Moore’s second interview Thursday, one of four things could happen:
One: The board is pleased and offers Moore a contract to be the next GFPS superintendent.
Two: The board decides to keep Moore as a finalist, but also wants to go over additional past applicants.
Three: The board decides to go in a different direction, dismisses Moore as a finalist, and goes over additional past applicants.
Four: Similar to what happened last week, the board comes to no decision.

(January 21, 2018) Gregory Nyen informed Great Falls Public School District officials over the weekend that he is withdrawing from being considered for superintendent.
Nyen stated he does not feel the District is a good fit for him at this time, according to the Montana School Boards Association.
Nyen, a superintendent at a school district in Wisconsin, was one of two finalists chosen by the Great Falls School Board of Trustees.
Due to this development, the Board will conduct a second interview with Tom Moore, the other finalist and current GFPS assistant superintendent for 7-12.
The public is invited to that interview on January 24 at 5:30 p.m. in the Aspen Room of the District Office Building located at 1100 4th Street South.
The Board will likely make a decision regarding the position following the interview.
