Planet Fitness will open Wednesday in Great Falls

Great Falls area residents looking to get into shape will have a new fitness option in the Electric City this week.

Planet Fitness Franchise Owner David Leon said the new gym at the former Hastings location at 726 10th Ave. S. will officially open at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Leon said he’s excited to open the facility after working with the city for nearly two and a half years.

But he’s not the only one ready to get Great Falls residents off the couch. Leon said 1,500 people signed up for memberships in December with a daily average of 50 sign-ups per day this month.

He added the Great Falls area was under-served when it came to workout options and he believes new members at any fitness level will notice the difference between their facility and other gyms.

“They’ll come in and they’ll see our judgement-free zone in progress, they’ll see it doesn’t matter if you’re fit or famous, everybody’s treated the same,” Leon said. “And if you’re new to fitness, you’re gonna find an incredibly warm, inviting, clean, friendly, affordable atmosphere.”

The new location creates 25 full-time jobs for Great Falls and features new cardio and resistance equipment along with tanning and hydromassage beds.

Leon said he plans to build a Planet Fitness in every major Montana city.

Planet Fitness will be open 24 hours a day weekdays and 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on weekends.
