Two member of the Great Falls Emergency Services (GFES) Team are being recognized for their hard work in 2018.

Critical Care Paramedic Kathy Wajer received the 2018 Paramedic of the Year award and EMT Christopher Lee received the EMT of the Year award.

Wajer has been with GFES for the past 18 years, making her one of the longest serving pre-hospital providers in the region. She received the award due to her clinical expertise, dedication and professionalism.

Wajer said, “The most thrilling calls are the traumas for sure. You know, you never know what you’re dealing with.”

She added that since her arrival, she’s been through a lot of changes. These changes include 3 Emergency Room re-models and approximately 5 different emblems for the company.

Christopher Lee has won the EMT of the Year award for the second consecutive year and he has only been with GFES for two and a half years.

This was the first time that the same EMT received this award in consecutive years.

He was the recipient of this award for his dedication, work ethic and professionalism.

In addition to working as a 911 EMT for GFES, Lee also serves as a volunteer firefighter for Black Eagle Fire.

Lee said he loves doing both, “I get to fight fires and go on medical calls, so it’s the best of both worlds for me.”

He added it’s been a big surprise for him the past two years winning this award, “I just come here to do the job, do my best for the patients and my partners and it just feels good to be able to serve the community of Cascade County.
