The Cascade County Tavern Association is gearing up to give safe rides home New Year’s Eve.
The tavern association operates its Home Safe Program every day of the year, but they have a lot of extra help for Monday night.
Volunteer dispatchers and drivers will stand by to get you a ride to the next bar or your final destination.
Rides are free of charge with the Home Safe Program.
Cascade County Tavern Association Executive Director John Hayes advises to think ahead and don’t wait for the bar to close to call for a ride.
He said dispatchers and drivers start getting busy around 10 p.m. and once 2 a.m. hits, drivers are constantly on the road.
“Our goal is zero DUI’s on New Year’s Eve and if we do this properly and people will just use the program the way it’s meant to be, there’s no reason to have a DUI on New Year’s Eve,” said Hayes. “If you want to use our program, just go to the bartender and say, ‘Call me a shuttle or call me a ride’ and we’ll take you to another bar or we’ll take you home.”
The program has several shuttle vans running as well as cars rented from Enterprise to help give as many rides as they can.
To get a ride, you can call 406-453-9567 or ask you bartender about Home Safe. Hayes said sometimes it is easier for bartenders to communicate with the dispatchers especially if the customer has been drinking.
