If you are looking for something to do during the holiday season, we’ve got you covered.

Brian McVay and his family live outside of town at 9 High Plains Road. He created a light display for the first time this year and said he started work in January.

“It’s just something that I have always dreamt about doing and I always wanted a show of my own,” he said. “I finally dove in without having a clue on how to do it so I figured it out, started learning how to do it, and watching it, and went from there.”

He’s up to 17 Christmas songs, which take him a few hours to work on a week. There are over 7,000 bulbs in the show.

McVay has always watched YouTube videos of other people’s shows and said when his wife gave him the go-ahead, he was extremely excited to have one of his own.

“My wife asked me if I was going to stay out in the truck all Christmas season cause I did start out the first four or five nights watching the lights, almost in tears,” he said.

You can catch the shows Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. The lights are synchronized to the music on the radio station 95.5 so be sure to tune in.

The run time is about nine minutes long, but McVay hopes to extend his light display for other holidays.

“The time of year, the giving, it seems like nicer things happen during the holiday season and it’s good from even Halloween all the way through Valentine’s Day,” he said. “It’s just a special time of year.”

The show can also be found on Google Maps as the McVay Family Christmas Light Show.
