The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center got into the holiday spirit Saturday with their annual tree trimming.

Families were welcomed to enjoy some Christmas crafts, cartoons, and Christmas tree fire safety.

Kids could make ornaments to decorate the Interpretive Center tree and take one home for their own.

Kids who turned out with their families also received free tree permits to cut their own tree from public lands.

Duane Buchi, Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Education Coordinator, said they try to connect kids with their public lands.

“To get out in nature, to be able to cut down your own Christmas tree that you can take home, and to be able to see the other things that are out there, the snow, the streams, the wildlife,” he said.

Kids in 4th grade also received a free year pass for all federal fee areas.
