The Great Falls Police Department has announced that Master Police Officer Clint Houston is the new student resource officer (SRO) for Great Falls High School and Paris Gibson Education Center as Cory Reeves steps into his role as undersheriff for Cascade County.
Reeves, who has worked in the schools for over nine years, was Detective Jesse Slaughter’s running mate for the sheriff’s race during November’s election.
The GFPD reported that Reeves has spent the last several weeks preparing for his transition.
Reeves posted the following statement to Facebook on Friday, which was his last day as the SRO for GFHS and Paris Gibson:
“So today was my last official day as the SRO for GFHS and Paris. Detective Clint Houston will start in the driver’s seat on Monday and take the show from here! The staff wore “vests” today at school which was a nice tribute to send me off! Tons of kids dropped off personal letters and messages wishing me well, it was really awesome. I have been blessed to serve the schools the past 9 ½ years and I will certainly miss everyone. I will spend the next few weeks transitioning to my new position and guiding Clint to the “never a dull moment world” he just entered!”
Houston has been the GFPD’s Law Related Education Officer for the last three years and was instrumental in growing the Citizens Academy.
He is also the president of the Great Falls Police Protective Association and received 2017’s Officer of the Year award.
The GFPD said they are confident he will carry on Reeves’ example and tradition of providing excellent law enforcement services to the students and faculty in his care.
