The Great Falls Rescue Mission held its annual Thanksgiving lunch at noon on Thursday.

Over the past month, the community generously came together with donations to make the meal possible.

The donations allowed the mission to serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and even pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert.

Hanging on the wall where food was served was a poster stating all the reasons why people are thankful this Thanksgiving holiday.

Shay Richter traveled from Fort Benton to help provide families with meals.

Richter has previously volunteered in Havre but said this was his first time helping out at the Rescue Mission in Great Falls.

He said, “I got lucky because my dad is here with me. So, we’re kind of using it as a chance to get together and give back as a family. It makes me feel really good getting to share the Thanksgiving spirit.”

The Great Falls Rescue Mission served approximately 300 people in the community today and around 200 people the past few evenings.

The mission has been serving Thanksgiving meals since they began in 1963.
