(GREAT FALLS) The annual Parade of Lights typically kicks off the holiday season.

But a lot of work goes into preparing for that night.

On Thursday, crews brought the most essential piece to Great Falls: the Christmas tree.

With the help from AT Klemens, Johnson Madison Lumber Company, Guy Tabacco Construction, Bench Industries and NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services, the tree was uprooted and traveled across town to its new home in front of the Civic Center.

The tree was donated by a Great Falls resident who says she was actually on a waiting list and when she received the call from the city this year that her tree was chosen, she was thrilled.

The Christmas tree will be lit by Santa following the Parade of Lights on November 24 at 6 p.m.

Within a few short hours, the tree was standing tall downtown.
