The Great Falls community marked Veterans Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I with a ceremony at Centene Stadium.
At 11 a.m., the remembrance began with 21 bells signifying the end of the First World War.
The ceremony was joined by the Air Force Honor Guard, Junior ROTC, the Marine Corps League, and others to help reflect on the occasion.
Colonel Jennifer Reeves, Commander of the 341st Missile Wing, spoke about the dedication and sacrifice of veterans and service members throughout our country’s history.
The gathering lasted about an hour and included performances of the National Anthem by the Central Catholic High School Choir, music by the Great Falls Pipe Band, and Taps along with a boot a rifle ceremony to represent service members who did not make it home.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to be at the Montana Veterans Memorial, but it was moved inside because of the weather.
“It’s important to get out here and I thank everybody for coming through the weather and honoring Veterans Day and honoring the 100 years of the end of World War I and the Bells of Peace,” said organizer Richard Liebert, Lt. Col U.S. Army Retired.
The Great Falls ceremony was held in connection with similar events around the state.
