(UPDATE) Bret Picciolo, a spokesman for Spectrum, sent the following message to KRTV: “I don’t have details at this point but can confirm that damage to our fiber optic network is impacting service for Spectrum customers in the area. Our engineering team is engaged and working to repair the damage as quickly as possible.”

As with last month’s service outage that lasted nearly 48 hours, customers can contact Spectrum to request a credit to their bill for the service interruption.

(1st REPORT, 4:16 p.m.) We have received several reports of a Spectrum service outage in parts of Great Falls.

The extent and cause of the outage have not yet been confirmed.

The automated response system on the Spectrum website states: “There’s an issue in your area that might be impacting your internet and TV services. Our technicians are working hard to get things running again.”

A phone call to Spectrum yielded the following automated response: “Spectrum customers in your area are currently experiencing a video, internet and phone service outage due to a damaged third party fiber optic cable. Fiber crews are working to repair the cable and at this time we are unable to offer an estimated time of repair. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

We have tried contacting Spectrum through other avenues, but have not yet received a reply; we will update you if we get more information.

Hundreds of people have left comments on the KRTV Facebook page about the outage:
