Eagle Mount Great Falls continues to deal with the fallout of a July break-in and now they are asking the public for help.

Thieves ransacked the Eagle Mount Activity Center on July 4th taking equipment, credit cards, and even a pickup.

Some of the items including the truck were recovered, but they are now dealing with the cost of increasing security.

Since July, the group has installed a fence and gate around the property costing about $1,500. They also installed an alarm system in the building.

While the alarm system was donated, they still have monthly fees to keep the system active, costing them about $700 a year, according to Executive Director Deb Sivumaki.

“We try very hard to be good stewards of the money that we do receive and we spend it wisely so that it helps the people that we serve,” said Sivumaki. “Then for someone else to come in and now they’ve thrown us into having to have security and gates and things that we didn’t have budgeted in, you know you don’t budget for somebody to come and take your stuff.”

Eagle Mount said they still plan to add additional security at their Activity Center and their horse stables.

Eagle Mount is asking for donations to help with the new security costs.

If you would like to give, you can donate through the Eagle Mount Great Falls Facebook Page or by mail to P.O. Box 2866, Great Falls, MT 59403.

(July 5, 2018) Eagle Mount Great Falls staff says that their Activity Center, located at 1065 Franklin Avenue, was broken into and several items were stolen on July 4th, including credit cards and the organization’s 2014 Blue Toyota Tundra truck.

That truck was recovered by the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning.

While organizers say they still have to evaluate the damage, one of the biggest concerns for them is loss of the Montana Vet Program’s 75-pound “Pig Egg.”

The “pig egg” is a bag that contains the nearly 7,000 dog tags from service members who gave their lives serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Staff say they will continue to assess the damage but were relieved their truck has been found.

They said they didn’t believe a suspect was in custody; we will update you if we learn more.

Eagle Mount Great Falls has been providing recreational activities for those with physical and mental disabilities since November 1990.
